Privacy Policy

Quiz Notes (“the app,” “we,” “us”) is built and operated by MWG Media Group. This Privacy Policy describes what information the app collects, how it's used, and what choices you have. By using Quiz Notes you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Information stored on your device

Almost everything Quiz Notes creates stays on your device:

• Your recorded lecture audio files (.m4a)
• The transcript of each lecture (generated on-device by Apple Speech Recognition)
• Scanned textbook pages and their extracted text
• Generated summaries, concepts, quizzes, and study progress
• Your settings and preferences

We do not have access to this data. It lives in your iOS app sandbox and is wiped when you uninstall the app or use Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete All My Data.

1.2 Information sent to our analysis service

To generate summaries, exam-likelihood scores, quiz questions, and audio recap scripts, the app sends a portion of your transcribed lecture text to a private proxy we operate. The proxy passes that text through OpenAI's API (using their GPT-4o-mini model) and returns the result. We send only:

• The lecture transcript text (or chunks of it for long lectures)
• The course name you provided when recording

We do not send your audio file, your name, your email, or any device identifiers.

1.3 Information collected by Apple

When you purchase a subscription, Apple collects payment information on our behalf according to their App Store policies. We never see your credit card or Apple ID details. We do receive an anonymous receipt confirming your subscription status.

2. How we use information

We use the transcript text sent to our proxy only to generate your study materials and return them to your device. We do not:

• Train AI models on your data
• Share, sell, or rent your data
• Build a profile linking your transcripts to your identity
• Retain your transcripts after the response is returned

OpenAI's data usage policy applies to the brief moment your transcript passes through their API. As of this writing, OpenAI does not train on API requests. See openai.com/policies.

3. Microphone and Speech Recognition

The app asks for permission to use your microphone (to record lectures) and Speech Recognition (to transcribe them on-device). Recording only happens when you tap Record. Transcription happens locally on your device using Apple's built-in speech recognition; no third party receives your audio.

4. Children's privacy

Quiz Notes is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with information, please contact us at support@quiznotes.app.

5. Your choices

• Delete everything: Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete All My Data wipes all on-device content, including recordings.
• Stop sending transcripts: not using the analysis features (just recording without analysis) keeps everything on-device.
• Cancel subscription: iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. We have no way to charge you outside of Apple.

6. Data retention

We do not retain transcripts or generated responses on our servers beyond the time needed to return them to your device. Cloudflare logs (our proxy host) are kept for standard troubleshooting periods and contain only request metadata (timestamps, IPs for rate limiting), not lecture content.

7. Security

Communication between the app and our proxy uses HTTPS. The proxy validates requests before forwarding them to OpenAI. We use Apple's on-device security model for all locally-stored data.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email if you've contacted support. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
